PHILIPS SONICARE FOR KIDS

I was the lead character artist hired to design this cute cuddly companion named Sparkly. The task was to create a brand new character that kids could interact with through a Bluetooth connected app.

EARLY DESIGNS & SKETCHES

The following examples are early thumbnail sketches for box art as well as character designs. As the character began to evolve, the tuft of hair on it's head started to become more pronounced. Once the initial concepts were approved, I moved on to painting the final character images used in the box art and marketing materials.

SPARKLY COMES TO LIFE!

One of the biggest challenges with Sparkly's design was it's fur. It was important that it looked fuzzy and soft but it also needed to work on a mobile device without causing performance problems. As the lead artist I was tasked with all of the texturing and animation work. Each tuft of fur was hand placed and each texture was hand painted by me.
